WORLD PACIFIC 45 RPM
88000 SERIES
PART EIGHT – 88120 / 88139

© James A. Harrod, COPYRIGHT PROTECTED; ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

The 45 RPM single series that began with 77800 continued in numerical sequence ending with 77939 as noted in Part Seven.  To the author’s best knowledge there was not a release 77938, 77939 or 77940.  The next number series jumps to 88120 with no releases preceding such as 88000 or 88001. Three of the initial releases in this 88000 series were released as Aura Records as well as Pacific Jazz (A PRODUCT OF LIBERTY RECORDS). Gil Fuller on 88124 was released previously as 77818, SWEETS FOR MY SWEET / A PATCH OF BLUE.

Some of the release numbers in the AURA RECORDS series were assigned numbers in a 4500 sequence and this 4500 sequence continues as matrix numbers for releases in the 88000 series.

The majority of the releases in the 88000 series were jazz tracks taken from LP releases and edited to fit the 45 single time limit.  The identification of artists, arrangers and producers for releases in this group is not as diverse as previous releases in the 77800 series. The listing will separate these credits with a back slash in each case: performing artist or group / arranger / producer. The artists represented in this group of releases include: The Delegates / Richard Bock, Richard Morehead / Benny Golson / Lew Futterman, Sonny Knight Quartette / Richard Bock, Gil Fuller - James Moody / Richard Bock, The Jazz Crusaders / Richard Bock, Gerald Wilson Orchestra / Albert Marx / Richard Bock, Victor Feldman / Richard Bock, The Zimbo Trio / Richard Bock, Richard “Groove” Holmes / Richard Bock, Bud Shank / Bob Florence / Richard Bock, Les McCann / Richard Bock, Chico Hamilton / Richard Bock, Buddy Rich / Oliver Nelson - Jay Corre / Richard Bock, Buddy Rich / Bill Holman / Richard Bock.
