The 77800 45 single series began when the release designation for the 400 45 single series was reassigned to a matrix series with the release of 77800 that carried matrix numbers WP-429-B and WP-430. The second release in the 77800 series, 77801, had matrix numbers WP-432 and WP-433.  The 77800 series would be the final 45 RPM single series for the World Pacific/Pacific Jazz/Aura line and would be a mixed bag of musical genres, drawing from the new Pacific Jazz PJ series, the World Pacific 1400 and 1800 LP series, the Aura LP series and random single releases not drawn from an LP release.

WORLD PACIFIC 12” LP – 1400 SERIES
PART THREE – WP-1441 / WPS-1467

© James A. Harrod, COPYRIGHT PROTECTED; ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

This third group of releases in the World Pacific 1400 series concludes that numerical series.  Three numbers were not used, WP-1448, WP-1460 and WP-1462. Previous examinations of the 1400 series noted that WP-1415 and WP-1429 were similarly not assigned for releases in this series.

The established practice of issuing recordings in mono and stereo versions would also cease within this series. The last release with the logo rectangle containing mono (WP) and stereo (WPS) numbers was WP-1445 / WPS-21445. The next release, WPS-21446 eliminated the mono number in the logo rectangle. Some mono versions of releases after that were issued with a white and black stick-on label noting “AUDITION MONO LP - NOT FOR SALE.” Examples of the changes can be seen below. The logo rectangle would be further modified reducing its size and it some cases eliminating it entirely with a release number in a single line as seen in additional examples below.

Artists represented on this group of releases include: Ravi Shankar, Kinichi Nakanoshima, Ashish Khan, Paul Horn, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, K. V. Narayanswamy, T. Viswanathan, Brij Bhushan Kabra, Buddy Rich and Alla Rakha, N. Ramani, S. Balachander, Alla Rakha, Ashish Khan and Alla Rakha, Lakshmi Shankar, M. S. Subbulakshmi, Satya Sai Baba, Ashish Khan and Ravi Shankar.
